You must be a commissioned security officer

This course will begin with an introduction to Armament Systems and Procedures, Inc. (ASP) All students will learn about Force Options, Officer Retention, Special Circumstances and Restraint. Body Mechanics and Training Terminology will be discussed. Students will learn the difference between an Interview Stance and a Combat Stance. Technical Characteristics of the ASP Baton and its uses will be taught, demonstrated and then practiced in this class. Basic baton skills will be taught and practiced. There will be a warm up section before tactical techniques are practiced. In addition to learning the different Baton Strikes, the student will also learn which areas of the body are to be targeted when it becomes necessary to defend yourself or another. At the end of the course there will be an evaluation period time where each student will be required to demonstrate the techniques learned in class. In addition there is a written exam that must be passed. Upon completion and passing the required written and physical exams, the student will be issued an ASP Tactical Baton Certificate.
